A Chinatown gate seems to just ask to be sketched. Trouble is it's getting cold outside and I need to learn to dress accordingly...
I'm not complaining though, cold weather goes with clear skies here and I'll take the sun any day.
When I look at this compared to the gate in Victoria, the details vary significantly. The posts extend beyond the tops of the roofs and the application of colour is very different. I'm sure there is a system of meaning for all the different elements which I'll have to look into, still it's easy to enjoy the look of the gate regardless.

Urban Sketchers has a custom Moleskine sketchbook. Would you like one?
We have a limited supply of the sketchbooks created for the recent Symposium that we are offering in exchange for a minimum donation of $25 to our nonprofit (we'll cover shipping to any country). To secure your notebook, click on the red 'support urban sketchers' button on the right sidebar. More information.

Bright colors - just right to add cheer to a grey winter day.
By your efforts against cold weather enjoyed great colors with definite lines.
