As most cities, Málaga has its own river that runs through its center. It is called Guadalmedina, a name that comes from an islamic origin (Wadi-al-medina, i. e. river of the city)
It has everything a river is supposed to have: a riverside walk, several bridges both for pedestrian and traffic use, even a railway bridge. There is only one thing missing: water.
Its flow was never a big one, but some decades ago a dam was built to prevent flooding, since then the riverbed is empty all the year long except for heavy rain days, perhaps once or twice a year.
So there is a neverending debate: what to do with the river? Nothing has been decided yet, but opinions range from covering it and building a north-south avenue and gardens, to deviating it through a less populated area, or perhaps trying to recover its natural condition leaving a continuous flow from the dam. Not an easy question! and still unresolved...

Además de buen dibujo, muy bien documentado!
Beautiful drawing, I love all the detail you've captured.
a very thought-provoking first post Luis and a great sketch of course! it's kind of sad to have a river bed without a river, I would let it flow again. looks like that dam really messed the ecosystem, even if it was good to prevent flooding
Very nice sketch and interesting concern.
let it flow, great post.
