Sultanahmet

Just a few sketches of Sultanahmet, home to the dazzling Blue Mosque. I had fun drawing the tourists, but decided to work on the mosque as well— I really don't enjoy sketching architecture, but have been trying to do it a little bit more to practice.

This was the second outing of Istanbul Sketchers group. We drew the attention of tourists and locals, and were almost constantly interrupted by someone asking us what we were doing and why we were doing it. Pictures were taken and some guys got annoying, as tends to happen when you're a foreign girl. We did our best to ignore them and focus on our sketching.
Once I get some images of the other sketchers' work, I'll let you know.

I love the one with the lady in the foreground and the mosque in the distance very much. Did you draw her first?

The top sketch is so clever - especially if, as you say, you were under outside pressures! I really like the one with the woman looking happily into her camera.

Thank you everyone!
Caro, I did draw her first. I figured the Aya Sofya wasn't going anywhere :)
