Librería Cervantes is the oldest bookshop to be found in Málaga. It is a magic place, delightfuly old-fashioned in its style, with its row of globes in the upper shelf and its carefuly displayed collections of the most beautiful fountain pens or luxury editions of poetry. It has not changed for decades, and I have proustian memories of myself watching fascinated through that glasswindow while holding my grandfather's hand, more than thirty years ago.
But it is also one of the last family owned shops in the main commercial area of the city, and I fear it may disappear sometime -in a changing streetscape where the prize of the commercial square meter skyrockets- perhaps to be replaced by a plain store belonging to a big company or franchise businesses...

bookshops are magical places
Beautiful sketch Luis. You've captured the glowing "lantern" quality of the display windows pefectly.
I hope the store remains for another 30 years at least...
This oozes magic - just like a book illustration itself. Lets hope there are others who think the same way and keep buying from here.
This is such a wonderful thing to capture with a drawing...
