Concord's North Bridge

It was in August that I sketched by the banks of the Concord River and listened to the Park Rangers tell the the story of April 19, 1775 to tourists behind me.
At this site, the American Revolutionary war began with its first battle. Earlier, in nearby Lexington, the first shots were fired between British troops and American colonists. It was to Concord, that Paul Revere was heading to warn of the British Army's approach when was stopped by British soldiers and released without his horse.

Fred, a great sketch! what's your technique for those wonderful fluffy tree-tops?

Thanks Zhenia,
I do ink washes, starting light and then getting darker, little by little, paying attention to the light and dark shapes, not the leaves.

Love it! Feels perfect for the period the story is from.
