The Amistad

I have gone up to Mystic Seaport in Connecticut twice this past year with the Dalvero Academy. It was my first time going. It is such a wonderful weekend trip spent with friends, drawing, and eating clam chowder. (Well I can't eat it since I'm allergic to dairy but I do sample a little). The first time we went was in January when it was about 30 degrees and snowing! It was really beautiful. The second time we went was this past September right when the leaves were turning. Both times spent at Mystic Seaport I instantly feel in love with, The Amistad. Which I found out was not referred to as a slave ship but a cargo ship that just happened to be carrying slaves. The Amistad has lead me to many things. It really has allowed me to dig further into my history. It's really exciting to see what I find out and how I can apply it to art.-Danielle
