I have drawn this beautiful skyscraper several times during my architectural studies in Siegen, Northrhine-Westphalia. It was the first skyscraper of the region, built 1957 as an administrative building for the steel production. It is very typical in its architectural language of the International Style in Germany.

Since ten years, the building was vacant, and the City of Siegen didn't find any investors. My home university made numerous designs and concepts with different types of use. But all this led next to nothing.
This week, the deconstruction began, altough the so called 'Krupp-Hochhaus' (Krupp was the steel producer family) was listed as a national monument. This is a very sad story and it hurts so much. Siegen loses a landmark, a testimonial of the post-war modernism.

Thank you very much to Werner Schnell for letting me post his image. You can find more pictures in his flickr photo stream.

How sad! I love the architecture of this 50's beauty. How wonderful that you did these beautiful drawings to commemorate this building. In a way, the first one looks like a very tall Frank Lloyd Wright building. Your art honors this grand building. The photo is wrenching!
Here in Sao Paulo, this situation happens all the time. I've seen entire blocks of nice old style homes vanishing in the middle of the night. Nice drawings.
your drawings are a great tribute to the building, very sad they couldn't find new tenants
