Amsterdam in the Fall

These sketches were created in September during SketchCrawl but I didn't get the chance to upload them until today.
I was fortunate enough to find a houseboat to rent for a few days in the Jordaan area in Amsterdam. And it was Fall. And there were bicyclists everywhere. And I couldn't understand a single word of what they were saying. And it was fantastic.

It's an experience I would recommend to anyone: bicycling down the canals... eating a herring or stopping for a broodje (delicious sandwiches), checking out facades, spending a couple of hours at Rembrand's house....
I have more sketches from the same series and will upload them later on.

Really strong drawing, almost like woodcuts.

Great drawings. Having lived in Amsterdam for a while, I really enjoyed these.

It would be a dream come true if I could live on a houseboat and then create memory pictures of the time there. Your sketches are full of the flavor of Amsterdam and I am looking forward to seeing the rest. Thank you for sharing these.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I'll upload more sketches real soon.
Rob, to answer your question: I sketched those on a 6 x 12 sketch book. I wanted to take advantage of the landscape format of the sketch book. I feel I could have gone further though.

Deceptively economical. Beautiful drawings. Love your earlier work on U.S too
