Travel to Clermont-Ferrand, France

Clermont-Ferrand is a city of fountains. It is also the home of Biennale of Travel Sketchers. Most of the town views, I made on my last day there, before our departure to Paris. I packed my valise, checked out from the hotel and just walked the city - something I couldn't dream of during the Biennale.

We've been there with my older doughter because Tanya has to be with our yonger doughter, who just happend to be born at the time. When I travel with her it's always adventure! This time she had a malaise in the Heathraw aeroport. But visit of the nice looking fellow paramedic does the miracle.
L'Appart - The Appartment. Place in Clermont where you can dring and listen music till 5 AM.
We also missed our train to Clermont. Valerie charmed the French ticket agent and he exchanged our non-exchangeable, non-refundable tickets. We finally got to Clermont just before midnight. Next train was only in 2 hours. Early in the morning (very early) next day I rushed to Polidome – the super modern congress hall, pride of Clermont-Ferrand which was hosting the Biennale, and in 15 minutes before the event started, hang all our art work. Ouff, how they say it France. This means “Phew” in English.

And old "place" in the center of the old city; volcanic stone decorates the building; the fountain also made of it. Near the fountain there was that thing to tie your horse to; now they live their "motos" motocycles there.

Like Jerusalem is built from a white Jerusalem limestone, Clermont is all volcanic black stone. The famous 13th century cathedral is built out of the same black stone - the locals consider that to be too gloomy, but I was born in Leningrad so I loved it.

great souvenir there!
I also went to "l'appart" and in some others "bar", I can't remember all of it. You were lucky to get time to sketch the city, as enrique, I don't.
I do not know that you did my portrait there, it's pretty cool. thanks for sharing =;)

Hi Eugene, love the charicatures! Reminds me a little bit of Quentin Blake. Yours are more fun though.

I have a question - I see the post is tagged "Moleskine" and I'm wondering what sort of Moleskine?
