New York City, in the pouring rain. Above, Manhattan Bridge, sketched from Brooklyn during a brief lull in the downpour. I was down under manhattan bridge overpass, in an area named after a disney film (i forget which). Seems like everybody was in New York last weekend.

The Lower East Side; headed there after the rain stopped, but as the darkness crept in. I don't mean that awful Suffolk based pretend-rock band.

And finally Fifth Avenue, early in the afternoon, huddled on my little sketching stool underneath a narrow shelter by a coffee shop and a hot dog stand. I don't drink coffee, I don't eat hot dogs, not really a fan of pretzels. Tell you what though, I had cannoli for the first time and it was really good; always makes me think of Fat Clemenza.
Urban Sketchers is a network of artists around the world who draw the cities where they live and travel to. We have this blog, which is by invitation, and a
If you want to start your own USk blog and connect all urban sketchers in your city, here's how to go about it:
1. Get a group of a minimum of 3 sketchers together interested in launching an USk blog for your city. 2. Send your names and e-mail addresses to urbansketchers at gmail dot com with a brief paragraph stating your interest in launching the blog and how you plan to keep it fresh and engage your community. You will be the blog's administrator and will be expected to run it following the rules of the group. A blog that becomes a showcase of drawings made from photos or doodles will obviously not fly. 3. We'll create the blog and give you full access to it. You'll be able to invite people to participate, personalize it with your own flag, add links and more. So, what are you waiting for? Get your fellow citizens out to sketch!

These are all great. I love the way they do feel wet and chilly, especially the middle one.
I was just thinking how wet they looked. It's so horribly wet here, I am full of admiration at your suffering for your art.
Thanks for a little taste of the big apple. Great drawings.
The neighborhood you're thinking of under the Manhattan bridge is named Dumbo! Nice drawing of the bridge - the views are great over there.
I'm glad you got to taste cannoli for the first time - it's definitely one of those foods you MUST try at some point in life!!
I love your framing for the bridge sketch.
love those sketches and really love your style.
All three are exceptional- bravo!
cheers everyone! i enjoyed sketching in the rain.
I think I've stood exactly where you were for the Dumbo sketch, it's great drawing down there, this is a great post.
I took a photo from the same spot in DUMBO during the blizzard in 2006. One of my favorite views in the city.
